SolarDashboard 4.0: your solar system on iPhone, iPad, Mac and now Apple Watch
The biggest update of the solar app brings a self-calibrating solar forecast, Insights into consumption and savings, hot water from solar power and all your systems in one app.
Aachen, Germany, November 2026. TAPWORK GmbH releases SolarDashboard 4.0, the biggest update in the app's history. For years, SolarDashboard has shown what a photovoltaic system is doing right now and has charged electric cars with its surplus. Version 4.0 turns it into a companion for the whole energy home: the app predicts what the sun will bring, explains where the kilowatt-hours go and lets the surplus heat hot water, too.
On Apple Watch. Rings show solar power, consumption and battery level; complications bring the values to the watch face and the Smart Stack. The Watch gets its data from the iPhone, no separate sign-in needed.
Seven-day solar forecast. From the Apple Weather forecast, SolarDashboard calculates hour by hour how much the user's own system will produce today, tomorrow and over the next days. After three days the forecast has adapted to the system. Optionally there's a morning briefing, a heads-up when the sun comes back, and a weekly plan from the Energy Coach for washing machine, dishwasher and EV.
Insights. Production and consumption by week, month and year, compared with earlier years. A heatmap shows when the home needs power, the base load at night reveals what is always on. A battery analysis and battery simulator show what a (bigger) battery would bring. Savings, payback and CO₂ avoided show what the system is worth. "Your solar year" sums up records and savings in a shareable review.
Hot water from sunshine. Heat pumps from Viessmann, Vaillant and Stiebel Eltron heat the hot water tank as soon as there is surplus, or in the sunniest hours of the forecast, without frequent cycling. As before, wallboxes, EVs from Audi, Škoda and SEAT/CUPRA, and HomeKit, Matter and Shelly devices run on solar surplus.
All systems in one app. SolarEdge on the roof, Anker Solix on the balcony: several vendors can be signed in at once. New are Anker Solix, EcoFlow, Hoymiles and Tesla Powerwall, bringing the app to twelve makers of inverters, balcony systems and batteries.
Pricing and availability. SolarDashboard 4.0 is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch. Everything that shows what the system is doing right now is free: dashboard, forecast for today and tomorrow, the week's Insights, solar year, widgets and the Watch app. SolarDashboard Pro adds automation, history and money as a monthly subscription that can be cancelled at any time. Prices vary by country.
“Many solar apps only show what the system produced yesterday, and only work with one maker's inverters. Putting the surplus to good use, analysing in depth, working across inverter brands and staying easy to use – few apps manage all of that. That's exactly what we built SolarDashboard 4.0 for.”
