How it works

Link your solar system to SolarDashboard

Connect your solar inverter with SolarDashboard and monitor the production and consumption values at a glance.

Join your electric vehicle or home charger

Link your EV or home charger with SolarDashboard and use charge your electric vehicle with green energy.

Use solar surplus to charge your EV

SolarDashboard measures the surplus energy and maximizes the use of your own electricity. Instead of feeding into the grid, the electricity is used directly.

Use Matter or HomeKit with green solar power

Connect Matter or HomeKit-compatible devices — including Shelly switches, smart sockets, infrared heaters, air conditioners and more — and power them automatically with your solar surplus.

Solar production and consumption at a glance

Get real-time and instant insights into your solar values, consumption data, and home battery state.

SolarDashboard goes beyond the monitoring. It intelligently calculates your surplus solar power to charge your electric vehicle or activates your HomeKit devices with green energy from your photovoltaic system.

No need to worry about unnecessary grid electricity usage, save money and reduce the carbon footprint.

Charge your electric vehicle with surplus solar power

Seamless EV Integration: Audi e-tron, Skoda Enyaq, Seat Cupra Born.

Home charger support: Use your home charger to charge any electric vehicle with green energy from your own solar system.

Dynamic Charging: SolarDashboard dynamically adjusts the charging power to the available energy surplus.

Customizable Control: Easily customize your charging preferences – set a minimum EV or home battery level, define a minimum solar production value before the charging starts, adjust the charging power and set the limit for the battery.

Control Matter & HomeKit devices with your green energy

Power your Matter or HomeKit-compatible devices using green energy from your own photovoltaic system. From Shelly switches, infrared heater to air conditioners, electric bicycle, let your creativity run wild.

Some users control the warm water or pool heating with outlets (e.g. Eve Energy or Shelly switches via Matter) or control other devices like the infrared heating. You could use Matter or HomeKit outlets, switches or Shelly (via Matter) relay switches in a wall.

Benefits of SolarDashboard

More self-sufficiency

SolarDashboard increases your independence and self-sufficiency! Optimize your solar system by using more self-generated electricity. This reduces your dependence on electricity from the grid.

Frequently asked questions

How does it work?
Download the app
Login with your solar inverter (e.g. SolarEdge) user
Connect and login your electric vehicle
Or just select your HomeKit devices via the app settings.
SolarDashboard will automatically determine the solar surplus of your photovoltaic system to control your devices.
That’s it.
How much is SolarDashboard?
Currently SolarDashboard is mostly free of charge. Some features like charging EVs or using HomeKit devices with solar surplus require a monthly subscription which can be cancelled anytime. Prices vary depending on the country and listed in the app.
How are 3rd party usernames and passwords handled?
No usernames or passwords are stored directly. Only the access tokens are stored in the keychain in encrypted form.
Is it necessary that the app runs in the foreground?
The use of the solar surplus works best when the app is always open in the foreground. Ideally, an older iPhone or iPad that is permanently connected to the power supply and has SolarDashboard actively running in the foreground is suitable for this. For example, you can use an older iPad mounted on the wall. Alternatively, SolarDashboard is also available for macOS. If the app and the Mac are permanently open and active, the solar and surplus update interval works very frequently and promptly.
How much do I save when charging an electric vehicle per year with SolarDashboard?
SolarDashboard can save several hundred euros a year on electricity costs. The following example shows possible savings in
Germany:
Annual mileage: 15,000 kilometers
Average consumption Model 3: 16 kWh / 100 KM
Total consumption per year: 2400 kWh
Proportion of charging processes at home: 75%
= 1800 kWh at home and 600 kWh at the fast charger
Electricity costs (without SolarDashboard) at home (at an average of 40 cents / kWh): 720 euros
Share of charging with solar surplus via SolarDashboard: 50% (900 kWh)
However, 900 kWh were not fed in, so the feed-in tariff of approx. 65 euros is lost
Electricity costs with solar surplus: 425 euros (50% grid consumption 65 euros lost feed-in tariff)
Savings of approx. 300 euros per year
What happens when the EV is not located near the solar system?
SolarDashboard can automatically determine whether the EV (Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda) is located at the site of the photovoltaic system. Your location data is not used for other purposes and will not be transferred to 3rd party providers.
Which smartphones, computers and tablets does SolarDashboard support?
Currently SolarDashboard is available for iPhone and iPad (iOS 16 and above). In addition, SolarDashboard can be installed on Mac computers from macOS 13.
Can I also specify that a certain battery level is guaranteed to be charged when there is not enough solar power available?
Yes, in SolarDashboard various settings can be made for the charging behavior. For example, a certain charge level must be present to enable dynamic charging with solar surplus.
What is the impact on the battery consumption from the iPhone / iPad when the app is running continuously?
The background update is controlled so well by Apple’s iOS operating system that it does not have a noticeable impact on the battery level of the iPhone or iPad. However, a constantly open app in the foreground shortens the battery time. However, a dimmed screen can help here. Alternatively, simply connect a charging cable permanently.
Which Matter or HomeKit devices do you recommend?
SolarDashboard integrates with a wide range of HomeKit and Matter devices, making it easy to use your smart home devices for energy automation. With Matter support, you can connect products from brands like Shelly, IKEA, and many others directly in SolarDashboard. Ikea smart home devices are the most affordable. Shelly devices can be installed discreetly behind wall switches or sockets and integrated into SolarDashboard via Matter.
Do you support Shelly devices?
Shelly devices can be used via HomeKit. To use Shelly with HomeKit, you can update a new firmware for HomeKit. See more here
How can I connect devices connected with Home Assistant to SolarDashboard?
Home Assistant can connect many devices or electric vehicles. In Home Assistant you can create the HomeKit bridge as the start/stop toggle. This button will appear in Apple HomeKit as switch and can be used in SolarDashboard to make use of solar surplus. See more here
